Evidian IAM: Access
Master
Increasing a company’s
productivity and responsiveness implies
providing its
employees, customers and partners with the
simplest information access processes,
and its administrators with the simplest
tool for managing identities and rights.
To develop their business, organizations are
increasingly making their IT accessible
to an ever-growing number of employees,
partners, suppliers and customers. Thus, the
management of identities is at the heart of
the organizations' activities, to guarantee
the security of IT access, the availability
of updated information and data
confidentiality.
However, organizations rarely store and use
identity information in only one place.
This results in the proliferation of
directory services and specific identity
stores,
and thus increased costs and complicated
security issues. To face this challenge,
organizations must keep control of identity
and access management (IAM).
Due to the multitude of user communities,
each with its own identity store and
security requirements, organizations must be
certain of the identity of the person with
whom they are doing business. They must have
effective means of controlling who has
access
to what parts of their corporate resources.
They must ensure that users have the
authorizations required to access sensitive
information and services. In addition to the
need for increased corporate performance and
better service, organizations are also
faced with intense pressure for
accountability. Regulatory compliance with
such laws
as Sarbanes-Oxley or HIPAA ensures that
organizations meet applicable and mandatory
privacy, authentication, authorization and
auditing requirements. These new market
demands require, first of all, efficient
management of identities. Then, from
reliable and uncorrupted identity sources,
organizations can deploy automated,
policy-based provisioning and/or
authentication and authorization, depending
on their project priorities.
An efficient IAM solution has to propose a
modular approach, making it easy t
o add new features or policies that match
the enterprise’s business requirements.
A step-bystep plan makes an Identity and
Access Management project easier
to implement and facilitates user adoption.
On the other hand, the full benefit of such
a project only comes if the solution allows
the deployment of enterprise-wide policies
(see Diagram 1). Furthermore, the security
platform needs to be open enough to allow
preparation for the future.

AccessMaster 7.0 is designed to help
you build progressively an
enterprise-wide security policy
solution. The software suite solves
each critical issue and provides a
modular and extensible range of
security solutions, as shown in

Entry-level components
of AccessMaster allow simple and quick
deployment of a foundation that may be
smoothly extended in order to adapt to
enterprise growth and/or new functional
requirements. This is made possible thanks
to the modularity of the suite, but also
because AccessMaster is a highly scalable
product. Furthermore, since user life cycle
management is obviously not specific to a
given underlying technology (PC-based or
browser-based), the identity management and
provisioning tools may be used in
conjunction with any other module of the
AccessMaster suite.
AccessMaster is an effective means of
deploying a simple and secure SSO solution.
Many organizations want to optimize their
information systems to have a competitive
advantage, by offering an easy SSO to more
types of users, applications and networks.
AccessMaster is the ideal way to achieve a
smooth SSO and a more consistent SSO
administration.
Thanks to AccessMaster, organizations have a
virtual view of all their LDAP identity
sources. Then, they can assign
administrators to each existing organization
node
(e.g. Cologne, Paris, Milan and New York).
With a few clicks, help-desk teams can
manage password policies and applications
(e.g. create, delete, un-register SSO
accounts). After authenticating to all
connected identity stores, end-users have
the
self-administration rights to change and
reset their passwords. Thus, AccessMaster
allows the deployment of an identity-based
and secure SSO solution, which increases
end-user convenience and productivity.
